Moving Minnesota Forward | District 57B

Why I’m Running

John Huot is proud to represent the communities of Rosemount, Apple Valley and Coates in the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 57B

My life has been dedicated to service. From the emergency department at the old St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center to working with a local fire department and transporting critically ill patients in the ambulance, my career has reflected my commitment to serving people, often at their worst times. It was this dedication to service that first drew me to the idea of running for office.

As my work progressed and my family grew, I never lost interest in running for office, but I had other things that needed my attention. My wife and I raised our family of three boys. We moved to Rosemount to ensure our kids would receive a top-notch education. I spent time volunteering in my community as a youth sports coach, a youth faith formation teacher, and a local advisory council. I worked hard in my healthcare field, I started small businesses, and I developed a successful real estate career, in which I still work today. Like so many of us, I have experienced the ups and downs, the challenges, and the joys, of working and raising a family.

In 2018 I put my experience and knowledge to work for the people of our district. My experiences at the Minnesota Legislature as a freshman Representative reaffirmed my belief that our state government needs people like me in office to fight for what is important to the residents of our community. I understand the challenges so many of us are facing because I have lived them.

Let’s get the work done!

This is a painful conversation. But it’s a reminder that those closest to the pain should be centered and lead on the strategies for change. https://www.npr.org/2020/06/02/867578122/black-female-lawmaker-in-minnesota-worries-about-teenage-sons-safety

We are bringing the full force of goodness and righteousness to restore order on our streets tonight. Please be safe, please help our communities, and please stay home.

Minneapolis & St. Paul residents: Do not patrol, go out walking or drive your car unless is it an emergency. We cannot have innocent people caught up in the sweep of those inflicting violence and danger on our communities. #MACCMN

Minnesotans, please go home. It’s time to restore peace on our streets and in our neighborhoods. The situation has become dangerous for Minnesotans and first responders.

Law enforcement officers have arrested several people who ignored multiple dispersal orders. Leave the area around the Fifth Precinct. #MACCMN
